Two University of Kansas debate teams — Rose Larson, Milwaukee, with Luna Schultz, Houston, and Owen Owings, Lee’s Summit, with Zach Willingham, Topeka — were selected as automatic qualifiers for the 2026 National Debate Tournament to take place March 26-31 in Houston.
Dionyssis Mantzavinos, a University of Kansas professor of math who is of Greek descent, was recently honored with Greece’s top award for contributions to the field of mathematical analysis. Mantzavinos and a co-author received the 2025 Nikolaos K. Artemiadis Award for Outstanding Research in Mathematical Analysis from the Academy of Athens, which is the highest intellectual establishment in Greece.
