Placement Result


Your placement result (overall score) is a number between 0 and 100. It represents the percentage of topics ALEKS has identified you have mastered. The course placement is determined as follows.

View your scores:

  • You will receive your score immediately upon completion of your Placement Assessment.
  • Your ALEKS score can be viewed by re-entering ALEKS using the same access link for which you took the Placement Assessment.
  • Within 24 hours after you take the assessment, your scores are automatically added to your student profile, which is accessible by your advisor.
  • Your scores will be verified by the math department before the semester begins.

You can retake the Placement Assessment to try to improve your score:

After your initial attempt, you can take the Placement Assessments four more times. However, you must wait 24 hours and complete a minimum of 3 hours of work in the Prep and Learning Modules before starting the 2nd Placement Assessment. After the second attempt, you must wait 24 hours and complete a minimum of 5 hours of work in the Prep and Learning Modules between Placement Assessments. For more information, see the Prep and Learning Modules. Your highest score will be used to determine your mathematics course placement.

Enrollment:

Your assessment score will be automatically added into the system within 24 hours after you take the assessment. After that, you should be able to enroll in the math course you have been placed in at KU's Enroll & Pay. You can discuss your score and placement with your academic advisor.
