Satbir Malhi Receives Summer Research Fellowship

Satbir Malhi received a 2019 Summer Research Fellowship from the KU Office of Graduate Studies. The award comes with a stipend of $5,000. His advisor is Milena Stanislavova, professor of mathematics and chair of economics.

Portrait of Satbir MalhiThe award places Malhi among a select group of graduate students, all of whom have excellent academic records and the strongest endorsements from their respective departments.

The factors considered in awarding Summer Research Fellowships include (but are not be limited to):

  • Academic performance
  • A clearly stated proposal with specific details of his/her research plan
  • Nominee is from an under-represented student group
  • Recommendation from the department

Mahli’s research interests range over the general study of partial differential equations with connection to C0-semigroup theory as well as functional, Fourier and harmonic analysis. During his Ph.D. program, he has mostly worked on long time behavior of evolution equations. Such equations arise from delay and partial differential equations in many disciplines (i.e. physics, chemistry, biology, engineering, and economics).
