Weizhang Huang Receives Honorary Fellowship

Lawrence, KS – Weizhang Huang, professor of mathematics, was awarded an Honorary Fellowship for his outstanding contribution in the fields of computational mathematics and numerical analysis by the European Society of Computational Methods in Sciences, Engineering and Technology (ESCMSE). The award was presented at the International Conference of Numerical Analysis and Applied Mathematics in Rhodes, Greece, September 22-28, 2014.

The honorary fellowship is the highest distinction of the ESCMSE and is given to very high quality scientists on the fields of ESCMSE. The selection is based on an international peer review procedure with the following criteria: papers published in SCI (Science Citation Index) journals, citations of SCI, and professional and scientific honors.

Huang completed his doctorate and master’s degrees in mathematics at the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Beijing. He came to KU in 1994 after holding research positions at Simon Fraser University, Canada and the University of Strathclyde, Glasgow. His research has been supported continuously since 1995 by the National Science Foundation. He has received a Big XII Faculty Fellowship and the Don and Pat Morrison Foundation Award for Excellence in Teaching.
